Lately I’ve been listening to eminem. If my knowledge of verse idioms were better, I’d try a poetic analysis of Lose Yourself. What’s that term for when a rhythmic measure spans two lines, so you end up with a pause in the middle of a line?

Tonight I tried to make my scanner work under Linux, but there was a problem with the driver, which I stared down unsuccessfully for a while. Back in ’94 I remember one of the first times I used Linux, I had to patch a kernel driver to make my handheld logitech scanner work. And here we are, 8 years later: same problems. What the fuck?

Earlier this year, after hearing Stephen Tweedie’s keynote at OLS, I was going to write a little rant about how the kernel people don’t seem to understand the importance of providing stable interfaces and how this playground attitude is holding Linux back on the desktop, but I lost interest.

We used to call the Ximian employees spacemonkeys, with a little nod to fightclub.

The other day Alex and I started our recording career with our first track, Soul of a Quaker. For some reason skips got introduced into the mp3; I’ll try to fix those later.

. . .

I think I’m going to move this blog to livejournal this weekend.

. . .

Last week I read Lucky Jim for the first time, and was reminded of how much I like funny British novels. So I reread some of my PG Wodehouse books, but now I’m out of subtle brit humor. Any recommendations?
