My first political fundraising
Thanks to everyone who contributed; we managed to pull in $5600 for Barack Obama the last few weeks. The money came from 39 different people, and the mean donation was $143.60. It took 20 days to raise this money, at a rate of $280/day. Interestingly, most of the money was raised the old-fashioned way — by pestering my friends on IM and Facebook — and only $1800 came in via my blog.
If you still want to donate, go here.
Also, I was lucky enough to get to meet the Senator a couple of weeks ago at a lunch in Boston. The campaign photographer sent me the photo last week:

Glad I’m not one of your IM buddies! My IM buddies just constantly ask why I won’t vote for Ron Paul, but at least they don’t ask for any money.
Still, if McCain wins the republican nomination I’ll be voting for Obama.

Hey Nat, very happy to see you’re blogging again, I spent an entire weekend reading your blog from the start to the most recent posts and loved it!
I, too, am a Obama supporter. I am also a Ron Paul supporter, and if it came down to both in Nov. I’d have to go Paul, but I respect Obama’s positions and congrats on getting good funds for Obama’s campaign. And congrats on meeting him!

Nat,
You’ve posted before about Larry Lessig’s fantastic presentation skills in favor of worthy causes. In case you haven’t seen it, on Monday he posted “20 minutes or so on why I am 4Barack”. I thought you might find it interesting.
