Playnice maintainership

Two months ago I released a script to autoupdate Google Latitude with your iPhone’s location, called playnice.

Neither Google nor Apple provides an API to fetch/update your location, so we have to screenscrape, and of course whenever Apple and Google change their website, playnice needs to be fixed.

Luckily there are people in the world like Andy Blyler, who has sent me a patch to fix playnice within 24 hours of every change Apple or Google has made.

So, it’s with great pleasure that I hand over maintenance of playnice to Andy. You can get the latest code from Andy’s github project here.

Enjoy! And thanks, Andy!

Since you seem to enjoy your iPhone more and more (and I assume you still use a Linux Desktop), did you checkout the libiphone project yet?

what about having your script hit a website that does have an API (one you or someone else creates). Then that website screen scrapes the other sites. This way no one has to update their script, just the website and everyone gets the benefits instantly.
